Johnny DeRoche
My coaching philosophy centers on individualized development, small group training, and meaningful coaching corrections so every player is seen, heard, challenged, and improving.
After stepping into coaching following my playing career, I noticed a growing trend in youth hockey: larger group sizes, fewer repetitions, and less individualized instruction. Too often, players spend valuable ice time standing around instead of actively developing their skills and hockey IQ.
I built JD9 Skating to provide a different experience. Every session is designed to maximize repetitions, deliver personalized feedback, and create an environment where players can confidently develop their game. I bring the same work ethic and attention to detail that carried me through junior, collegiate, and professional hockey, and I expect that same commitment from my players.
Many of the athletes I work with dream of playing at the highest levels, from Division I hockey to professional careers. My goal is to help them build the skills, confidence, and habits necessary to pursue those goals. There is nothing more rewarding than watching a player grow, succeed, and realize what they're capable of achieving.
